Preseason is not something to be given too much weight, but there are conclusions that can be drawn from it – especially in terms of game-tape and playing time. Let’s see what our first dose of football had in store for us.

“Exotic Smashmouth” Is A Go In Tennessee

The Titans proposed gameplan was on full display against the Chargers as DeMarco Murray (6-93-1) and Derrick Henry (10-74-1) combined for167 yards rushing on a combined 16 carries. On his 71-yard TD gallop, Murray hit the line, took one cut and then left the field in the dust – exactly his style when he won fantasy leagues in 2014.

Derrick Henry also looked very impressive, barreling through defenders and constantly falling forward when tackled. It is tough to imagine either one getting enough touches to maintain RB1 value, but if one gets hurt… look out. Expect Murray to be an RB2 and have Henry flirt with FLEX value.

Dez Bryant Is Back

Dez Bryant was never truly himself after breaking his foot last year, and rushing back to the field while Tony Romo broke his collarbone turned out to be an exercise in futility. He still has a first-round ADP, but there are many skeptics still out there. His patented “my ball” mentality and overwhelming strength really stood out on his receptions.

Another benefit: Dak Prescott looked at least serviceable compared to the pathetic QB play behind Romo from last year. Thus, even if Romo goes down Dez can still maintain plus fantasy production

DeAndre Washington Dazzles In Debut

The entire offseason was filled with doubts about Latavius Murray – someone who wasn’t a difference maker in 2015 despite staying mostly healthy and receiving a solid amount of touches. After drafting Washington from Texas Tech, it’s possible the Raiders felt this way as well. Washington responded with an 8-43 rushing line and this lovely reception (notice how he shakes the linebacker to get open).

Considering Murray’s possibly short leash and injury history, Washington is well worth a draft pick in your fantasy leagues.
